In Honor of Norm Schureman

On March 21 2010 one of my instructors I respect, Norman Schureman past away from unexpected tragedy. I was very fortunate to be in his last class. The whole class including me finished thru the class strong even after he past away. Thanks for our entertainment faculty Will Weston who subbed for the remainder of the term and giving us helpful knowledge.
These are the pieces I randomly picked up for my blog. I wish I could upload all of them, but THERE ARE 30 PAGES IN THIS BOOK ^_^;;

I painted a lot using digital so I will be working on my traditional media during the break and next term. So excited already!

I finished organizing everything for both scholarship and 3rd term portfolio review so I think I want to post up my works. Some are still work in progress.
Mixture of both new stuff and old stuff!

Scholarship Ended

I turned in my scholarship portfolio and I got it back today. I will be uploading my stuff I turned it in so if you are bored, take a look at it! I will be able to find out my scores next Friday. I am not really confident with the stuff I submitted, but I think the fact that I pulled it off to present my work will be payed off somewhere somehow. Next is my third term review portfolio, which is a continuation of what I turned it in for my scholarship. Let's hope everything will run smoothly.

I start using painter and I am already struggling on this program.
However I really like how painterly it comes out. I'm on my trial version but I am thinking of purchasing the actual software. Hopefully I can master at this program and paint awesome stuff!
So these are my crappy paintings using Painter first time.

I personally like how the brass pitcher came out. Half time of my class effort is in that pitcher XD

This was an assignment from one of my class. You don't even have to know technical skills from perspective class. Just from wire framing objects and grounds, you can actually read the forms.

my first attempt to use gouache.

interestingly, it turned out ok for the first time. 30-40min.

maybe i should keep on using gouache, its hard yet its fun.

my toughest classes of this term was painting and viscomII.

In type class im currently in, we are designing a cd cover of existing band.
first two are the mock ups i was working towards final. And the final version ended up with bright pink neon sign with lots of construction lines.

Yay I got a good crit from my painting teacher!
So I am in next stage, color studies. I google imaged different types of metals and applied that color to my paintings. I like the first version better. Although I did good on the first one, I did additional color explorations. My paintings will most likely to be similar to the first version.

So I decided to make my blog. This is my portfolio I made for Entertainment Design in Art Center. Currently I am a 2nd term Illustration student, but I decided to switch to this new department. I haven't received any replies from the school yet, but it will be cool if I get in, right? lol
These are some stuff that I put in my portfolio. 2weeks of design process of Dragon of the North, an original story of Lord of the Rings with deep sea creature elements.
